Advice from the builder's point of view.

I advise, mediate and uncomplicate — impartially, with no financial interest in the work. Here's how that can help you.

01

Impartial advice

Guidance on your project from the builder's point of view. Because I'm not bidding for the work and have no financial interest, the advice is yours alone — honest about cost, quality and what's really worth doing.

02

Mediation

A calm, experienced voice between you and your builders, designers and architects. I help resolve disagreements and misunderstandings before they turn into delays or extra cost.

03

Uncomplicating plans & situations

Plans and quotes can become tangled and hard to read. I cut through the confusion so you understand exactly what's proposed, what it means, and what your options are.

04

Pre-purchase cost appraisal

Considering buying a property? I'll visit it with you before you commit, and ball-park the likely cost of the work — so you can make an offer with your eyes open.

05

Overseeing specifications

Reviewing specifications drawn up by others and advising on them — flagging gaps, unrealistic assumptions and opportunities to save before the work is priced.

06

Quality control & oversight

An expert eye on workmanship and progress on projects where I'm not the contractor — helping you hold standards high and catch issues early.

07

Technical advice

Practical guidance during a project on methods and products — what works, what lasts, and what's simply not worth the money.

08

Joint specifying & liaison

Working alongside your surveyors and designers from the builder's perspective, and helping you liaise with everyone involved so the project pulls in one direction.

Best done early. Getting me involved at the planning stage usually heads off problems before they happen. But if a project has already run into trouble, I can step in later to resolve it — often saving money even then.

First-hand across every trade

What I can advise on.

Forty years on site means I've planned, priced and overseen every part of a refurbishment myself. There's little I haven't done — or seen go wrong and put right.
