I'm Gavin Giddings. I spent forty years in the building trade — thirty of them running Gavin Giddings Refurbishments, preparing and restoring properties across Central London.
For all those years I was hands-on: frequently on site with my tradesmen, managing the logistics and the quality control myself. We prepared rental homes letting from £200 to £12,000 a week, restored properties for owner-occupiers, and made others ready for sale. In our field, you're only as good as your last job — and over three decades, that meant being good, consistently.
Now I've changed hats. Rather than take on the work myself, I offer advice to the people undertaking it — from the builder's point of view.
Because I no longer take on the work, I have no financial interest in your project. That's the whole point.
It means I can stay completely impartial — advising, mediating and uncomplicating without ever steering you towards a job I stand to win. I'll help you liaise with your builders, designers and architects, keep everyone pulling the same way, and make sure decisions are made for the right reasons.
Done early, good advice prevents problems. Brought in later, it resolves them. Either way, it usually saves money — or makes far better use of the money you have.
The advice I give is rooted in decades of running a fully-accredited firm and working alongside London's estate agents, surveyors, architects and designers.
Ran a Contractor Plus and SafeContractor accredited firm for three decades.
Decades preparing rental and private properties in Central London.
Long-standing relationships with estate agents, surveyors, architects and designers.
Hands-on knowledge of building, carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrics and finishes.
A reputation built on famously short snagging lists and properly finished work.
No financial interest in your project — the advice serves only you.
If you'd value an impartial, builder's-eye view on your project, I'd be glad to help.
